Freedom Bass Club Monthly Minutes

2008

Tournament Report:

  1. January Tournament - The January tournament was held on January 19 and 20 at Falcon Lake.  We had another awesome turn-out with 17 members and 3 guests participating in the tournament.  The weather was pretty intense this weekend.  The rain on Friday, the freezing temperatures/wind on Saturday, and ice on the boats early in the morning definitely made the fishing a challenge.  The outcome of the tournament is as follows (NOTE:  Weights include the 1 lb 4 oz bag.):

1.      Ira Lynn – 42 lbs 1oz

2.      Janet Zipperer – 33 lbs 15 oz

3.      Troy Zipperer – 32 lbs 2 oz

4.      Scott Hutzler – 30 lbs 0 oz

5.      Jim Carroll – 23 lbs 5 oz

6.      Mike Bradley – 21 lbs 14 oz.

Big Bass – Jim Carroll 11 lbs 3 oz

  1. Cook-Out - The chili dinner Saturday night sure did help with the bitter cold.  Thanks to the following people for donating their time/supplies:

1.      Troy Zipperer – pot of chili

2.      Greg Snell – pot of chili

3.      Ed and Ashley Manning – cornbread

4.      Don Richards - cake

  1. Tournament
    1. The February tournament is scheduled for the 9 and 10 at Choke-Canyon in Three Rivers, Texas.  The rooms blocked for Econo Lodge have been released.  Please call down ASAP if you still need a room.
    2. Due to the PAA pro tournament being held the same weekend, we may need to have a cookout Friday and Saturday nights.  Nolan’s (where we normally eat) will probably be packed both nights.  We need your feedback on this.

New Business:

  1. Macarthur Bass Club
    1. Macarthur High School has organized a bass club consisting of approximately 15 boys and 10 girls.  They are a group of students ranging from novice to “expert” anglers.  They meet twice a month.
    2. The members lack boats.  Freedom Bass Club members have discussed taking students on tournaments and giving fishing demonstrations at the school.
  2. Boysville Tournament
    1. The Boysville tournament is scheduled for the last weekend in July at Canyon Lake.  The children participating in the tournament come from broken homes, foster care, special needs, etc.  The day is set aside for these children to experience a fun-filled day of fishing
    2. Freedom Bass Club members are encouraged to volunteer their time for this day.  A background check is required in order to participate.
    3. Ed and Ashley Manning will be the liaisons for this event.  Further information will be provided via e-mails.
  3. City Tournament
    1. City Tournament is set for Amistad.
    2. Metro proposed a raise in entry fee from $20 to $25.  The reason for the raise in fee is unclear.  Clubs are to vote yes or no to the change.  Freedom Bass Club votes no to the increase in entry fee.
  4. 2007 Banquet
    1. A club banquet for the 2007 season is in the works.  Denny Rosenfeld, DW Albrecht, Troy and Janet Zipperer will head up this event.
    2. Locations for the banquet have been suggested.  The Zipperer’s volunteered their home.  Requests for having it at a restaurant that will accommodate a large party have also been made.  Further information will be provided via e-mail.
